New Balance Men's MT876 Trail Running Shoe Review

(More customer reviews)The 876 has all the essential features a serious trail shoe needs: Rockstop, fast draining liner, solid toe protection without being too bulky, and great traction even in moving water over mossy rocks.

This is a good trail running shoe. I ran my first 80 mile ultra marathon 1 year ago. Since then I have used many different shoes or none at all. The 900 series was favorable with the 908 being the best, but later changes made it disappointing because of the addition of Gortex in the 910 which is useless in a serious trail shoe and the liner collapsing in the 909.

I have used this shoe almost a month and it is getting better with time. I only hope that no changes are made to this model, and this shoe is kept in production just the way it is. It fits my needs perfectly.

(More customer reviews)I purchased these shoes for my husband because they were waterproof. They definately do not allow any water inside and are made extremely well. He has owned these now for several months and would have worn the tread on the bottom completely out by now with any of the other major brands of gym shoes. He really puts alot of wear and tear into his shoes and these have been really great. If ordering these, however, I would suggest they fit you well from the beginning because since they are waterproof and so tightly woven, they will not stretch like so many other gym shoes do. In quality they are much better than any of the major brands so if you want a really well made pair of shoes that will last, these are for you!

A good neutral shoe that doesn`t make my feet and knees feel beat up after long sessions on the treadmill.Being 205 lbs finding a shoe that does that was difficult. Will probably buy this shoe again if Saucony doesn`t discontinue this model.

(More customer reviews)Extra room in the toe box and a closer fit in the heel fixes the problems I had with the 2140.I recommend a half-size larger if you do long distances to allow for swelling feet (maybe one size larger for some).Good socks are a must, as for any shoe.The laces are flat and stay tied unlike the round laces on the 2140.The sole is sufficiently padded for the road and the support is good for the trail--a good all-around shoe.Many shoes that are "good for both trail and road" are actually so-so for both.I plan to buy another pair to alternate with.

adidas Men's adiStar Ride Running Shoe Review

(More customer reviews)I own two pairs of these which I've used to train for and compete in numerous 5ks, a 10k, 2 sprint triathlons, and a half marathon. Only a "middle-of-the-pack, age-grouper", but I still get out there and have fun!

These shoes seemed to perform well for me, so I purchased a third pair because I was notified that they would "soon be unavailable" (something I've since learned shoe companies do to boost sales--discontinuation of models at various times). However, all 3 pairs are now gathering dust in my closet.

A friend recommended the book BORN TO RUN by Christopher McDougall and--before I even got a chance to take the new Adistars out of the box--I've become a convert to the barefoot/minimalist running movement. I now run almost exclusively in Vibram FiveFingers (KSOs or Bikilas); 12-15 miles per week.

Check out the Vibram FiveFingers if you have the chance. If you like going barefoot, you'll LOVE the "feel" of them. The muscles in your legs and feet will very likely take some adjusting to the new style, but--after only one month, my 50-year-old knees & hips no longer have any significant joint pain and running seems MUCH easier!

Nothing against Adidas specifically, I've just chosen to cast off my "over-engineered foot coffins" (that have only really been around since the 1970s) in favor of running the way minimally shod or unshod humans have been running for millennia!

(More customer reviews)I am a huge fan of New Balance products, primarily for the superb fitting I am guaranteed of. I have never had to re-think any purchase on the grounds of fit, and this is no different. However, I think the cushioning is slightly unbalanced, being excellent on the rear sole, while it feels a little spare on the front. Also, the soles squeak with every step while running at a slow pace/walking. Not a major problem, but it could have been better. Traction is very good on slippery surfaces as well. Aesthetics and squeak aside, a good buy.

(More customer reviews)These are great.I am not using them as a trail runner, more of a hiker that has now turned into my everyday shoe.I have a pretty narrow foot and these don't have to be laced overly tight to get a comfortable feel. The heal support is rock solid and the toe area has the right amount of room.They have great traction and have worked nice as a mountain bike shoe on flat pedals and done equally well on beach hikes.I can't say enough good things about these, they are awesome!

ASICS Men's GT-2140 Trail Running Shoe Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased two pairs of running shoes from Amazon while on vacation in San Francisco. One pair were the straight running shoe and the second the trail shoe.Both shoes were US11.5 EE size. The running shoes fitted great but the trail shoe was very tight in the toe box. I guess I should have sent them back but though I could fix the problem by removing a portion of the inner sole in the toe box. Big mistake! In the end I purchased a set of shoe-stretchers .Bravo-fit Shoe Stretchers - Premium Hardwood Large Size 9-14 and that has fixed the problem. So how how are they for trail running? Well I find them great. I tried them on a short trail run in the Waitakere Ranges in Auckland that had a good variety of terrain. Mud, roots, uphills, downhills and they felt surefooted and comfy. I would recommend them but be prepared to go bigger if the toe box squeezes your forefoot despite ordering the same size as your runners
