(More customer reviews)These boots have been great for hiking. Good grip and very comfortable. I haven't had any issues with moisture/sweat. Haven't tested out if they are affected by water. This purchase has worked out great, now let me go knock on some wood.

UPDATE: Ok so since I bought these about 5 months the bottom rubber soles have started to come unglued. Did not expect that. Are still extremely comfortable and otherwise have stood up well on my day-hikes. I think some superglue will resolve the sole issue and comfort-wise I find these shoes worth the superglue, but I'd be pretty upset had I paid current prices of around $100. If I could change the rating I would give 3.5 stars now. A great shoe IF it stays intact.

ALLROUNDER by MEPHISTO Men's Colorado Lace Up Review

(More customer reviews)I enjoyed walking wearing these shoes on cement sidewalks. The heel area has excellent cushioning and along the foot bed to the ball of the feet also has excellent cushioning. The areas under my big toe felt like there was not much cushioning. The soles are pretty solid and thick. They don't flex easy as the Brooks Gycerin 8, running shoes for example.The lace up system I like a lot. It is easy to use with the loop on the back of the heal to slip on the shoes. On the top lace it runs all the way behind the foot to pull close the shoe around ones foot. It works good for me. The heel area inside is a little wider than in the Teramo Allrounder by Mesphisto trail shoes; but the Colorado shoes have much more cushioning and are a heavier shoe. The bottom of the shoe soles have off road grab patterns; but not as distinct as the Teramo. I plan to use the Colorado shoes for walks in the rain mainly on sidewalks; but also off road too. They look good.

(More customer reviews)These shoes are my second pair of Salomon shoes, the first were not gore tex or waterproof but this new version has the same exact fit which is perfect so no worries when purchasing online.The green color is really bright, but I wear them hiking so don't mind the loud sporty color. They don't show much dirt because they are colored grey and black near the sole.The laces are super easy to use, and these smooth style of laces pull tight with just 1 hand, which is great when you are holding a baby in the other arm as you run out the door! I wear these walking, hiking, and anytime rain is expected!

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Ossagon eVent Hiking Shoe after trying several other popular brands (Merrell, Columbia, Salomon, Keen).All I have to say is WOW!These are comfortable right out of the box, waterproof, breathable, they have spider rubber...they are the most wicked cool hikers I've seen.I have other Tevas and am never disappointed in their quality or style, these are no exception.These blow away all the cheap-feeling, overpricedother hikers I tried on (Merrell Siren, Merrell Chameleon, various Columbias & Keens).You will NOT be disappointed with these hikers. Note: Sizing seems to run a about 1 full size short on these, so if you wear a 7, I'd order an 8 just to be safe.

(More customer reviews)I am a huge fan of New Balance products, primarily for the superb fitting I am guaranteed of. I have never had to re-think any purchase on the grounds of fit, and this is no different. However, I think the cushioning is slightly unbalanced, being excellent on the rear sole, while it feels a little spare on the front. Also, the soles squeak with every step while running at a slow pace/walking. Not a major problem, but it could have been better. Traction is very good on slippery surfaces as well. Aesthetics and squeak aside, a good buy.

New Balance Men's MT910 Trail Running Shoe Review

(More customer reviews)Here's a tip for sneaker buyers.If you find a model you like, buy several pairs immediately, because you can be sure the manufacturer will discontinue that model.

My preference is for Gore-tex lined trail runners.That's not because I'm a trail runner.Rather, I'm a nature photographer who spends a lot of time in muddy woods carrying a 40 pound pack of camera gear on my back, and the trail runners take up the impact of my heavy load while the gore-tex keeps my feet dry.I also prefer that they not have mesh tops to help keep my feet a little warm on a cool day when I'm sitting waiting for a fox to show up.

My recent favorite was the New Balance MTI1100 that provided the fit, support and comfort that I wanted, seemed to be designed for an over-pronator like me, and was the only Gore-tex trail runner in their line.Naturally NB discontinued it.I knew that NB often just updated a shoe, adding a digit to the model number but when I looked on their web-site there was no model MTI1101 or anything near it.Instead there was only one trail runner with gore-tex, the MT910GT.It had mesh tops, but I figured I'd sacrifice the warmth, especially since New Balance was the only comfortable shoe I'd been able to find since Montrail was acquired by Columbia Sportswear.

The bottom line is of course that I couldn't wear the shoes.Although NB claims cushioning and stability with an Abzorb sole, the soles felt hard and paper thin.I couldn't feel comfortable in these shoes even when I was walking around without a load.Ultimately they went to the Salvation Army.It may be that somebody can wear these shoes, but not someone who needs cushioning and stability.
