(More customer reviews)I want to like these boots: The tread seems very good (Vibram is a great company), the toe box is roomy, they're light and they seem durable...

...but, the sole of these shoes are messed up. There's this weird ridge down the center of the soles that dig into my feet when I move in them. Maybe I got a defective pair. The otherwise positive reviews lead me to believe that this may be the case.

I ended up getting a pair of Bates instead and will be returning these.

MuckBoots Adult Woody Sport Boot Review

(More customer reviews)I am a huge Muck Boot fan (note - there are knock offs out there - I am talking about boots made by the Muck Boot Co and under the Muck Boot brand). We use these exclusively on my ranch in Montana and have purchased just about every make and model they have from the Muck Shoes all the way up to the cold weather arctic versions and everything in between.

The neoprene uppers stay soft and are tough in the rough. They are easy on and off due to the soft uppers. I have a high arch and full length rubber boots are always very hard for me to get off. These boots, since the uppers fold down, are much easier to get off.

They work fine over the pant or under the pant. The only time I have seen them break down is when my employees ride motorcycles out to change wheel line, etc. and they hook them on the foot pegs. This can tear the uppers, so they are not indestructible. The rubber bottoms are very well constructed. The steal toe versions of the boots provide good front foot protection. Size seems pretty standard, so if you are a men's 10, the 10 seems to fit true. A typical pair of boots will last years on the ranch and I have never seen one come apart in any place. The sole will wear out before the boot breaks down. Leaking has never been a problem.
One note: The tack or scrub version of the boots has a sole that is not really made for great gripping on slick surfaces (at least that is my experience). They work fine in the barn, but if you are going to be doing a bunch of walking outdoors, over ice or slick mud, I recommend the "lug" soles.

I have worn the arctic version of the boot in very cold weather (-10 F) and your feet will stay warm with a good sock. I would not use them to stand for long periods of time in very cold weather, as there are better boots made for that kind of performance. The non-arctic versions get worn all year around unless it's very cold.

These boots are not cheap in price, but the last thing I want is wet, cold or sore feet or a boot that breaks down quickly. Muck Boots perform very well and will outlast cheaper brands by a long time.

MuckBoots Adult Arctic Sport Boot Review

Michelle, I think her name was.She was watching me walk when I did not know, allowing her to see and show me I was a pronator.I did not know this at all.She directed me to this and told of its vast improvements over the 1222.She said the toe box was made a little larger, they moved the gel to the topside of the sole, and they changed the fabrics to be faster drying.I can feel the toebox increase (I have bunyons, its nice).The gel relocation is like Heaven!It feels like I'm walking on clouds from the first step.The material is very breathable and the shoe is very lightweight.

I HIGHLY suggest these shoes. They are worth the money...and I paid full price in the store!

KEEN Powerline Shoe - Men's Review

(More customer reviews)I have both the Keen Powerline and the Wasatch and actually they both feel the same to my feet with only minor aesthetic differences and a difference in the fabric. Even the technical specs are about the same and I wear them for the same purpose, as mixed use trainers.I looked at both set of specs for a long time before deciding getting one of each instead of 2 pairs of one.

What I like most about the Powerline and Keen shoes in general is that the toe box is wide. I have wide feet and I just don't understand why sports shoes companies don't make more sports shoes with wide toe boxes. These Keens are very comfortable for my wide feet and very sturdy. The specs say they're moisture wicking, they feel a little warm for me in the summer, but that could be because I wear thick socks.My socks are also moisture wicking and that has led me to wonder what happens when you wear moisture wicking socks but not moisture wicking shoes, do you end up with a puddle of sweat between your socks and your shoes?

The specs say to buy them a 1/2 size bigger and I definitely agree with that. The pair which is 1/2 size bigger than my usual size is definitely more comfortable.

In summary, they're very light and very comfortable and after getting these Keens I'm not sure I'd ever buy any other brand of athletic shoes again.

For day-hiking and 2-3 day backpacking trips in relatively dry conditions, the Keen provides great support and comfort. Little breaking in is required. For hiking in wet conditions, go for the Targhee Mid, which is basically the same boot with a waterproof liner.

KEEN Targhee ll Hiking Shoe - Men's Walnut, 10.0 Review

(More customer reviews)I use to work extensively on mountain tops doing remote communication site work. I needed something that would keep my feet relatively dry and provided great traction. These shoes were great! The problem was they were and are cheaply engineered and do not last under even normal walking conditions. The sole wears away, the tread disappears, nothing on this shoe is built to last and at a price of over 100 dollars its not worth it. I initially thought that the reason my Keen Targhees were wearing out was that I was that rough on them. So I bought 2 pairs at the same time and used 1 set for just driving shoes/ walking downtown and the other for mountain trips. It didn't matter which I did they lasted about the same time plus or minus a month. The only noticable difference was my mountain set was weathered just a bit more from the inclimate weather I subject them to. But all of the typical failures were prevalent on both sets. If you are in to shelling out 100+ dollars every 6 months for these then go right ahead. I have seen so many reviews just like mine that you'd figure Keen would do something about it by now.
