Hi-Tec Women's St. Moritz Luxe 200i Insulated Boot

I live in western NY and the snow and the cold here can be brutal. I bought these boots a few months ago and have worn them for walks, hikes in the Adirondak Mountains, and to do things like snow removal after the last batch of February and March snow storms. Not only did my feet stay dry, they were WARM. After walking in slush, snow, and some muddy terrain (for hours!), they look brand new. The suede stayed dry in all of these conditions! The boots can be a little stiff at first, but after a few wears, they became more flexible. There is enough room for wool socks inside, but any pair of socks will do in these comfy warm boots. I love them and am glad that I spent the money. They also are a cute and I've worn them with my jeans tucked inside. A great buy and I'd recommend them to everyone.

I was looking for some hiking boots that were waterproof to snowshoe in and these are perfect! They are so warm and comfortable that I've been wearing them everywhere.Perfect for winter in the Rocky Mountains. The boots did seem to run a little small, and I got a half size larger than I normally do in hiking boots.

MuckBoots Adult Woody Sport Boot Review

MuckBoots Adult Woody Sport Boot

I am a huge Muck Boot fan (note - there are knock offs out there - I am talking about boots made by the Muck Boot Co and under the Muck Boot brand). We use these exclusively on my ranch in Montana and have purchased just about every make and model they have from the Muck Shoes all the way up to the cold weather arctic versions and everything in between.

The neoprene uppers stay soft and are tough in the rough. They are easy on and off due to the soft uppers. I have a high arch and full length rubber boots are always very hard for me to get off. These boots, since the uppers fold down, are much easier to get off.

They work fine over the pant or under the pant. The only time I have seen them break down is when my employees ride motorcycles out to change wheel line, etc. and they hook them on the foot pegs. This can tear the uppers, so they are not indestructible. The rubber bottoms are very well constructed. The steal toe versions of the boots provide good front foot protection. Size seems pretty standard, so if you are a men's 10, the 10 seems to fit true. A typical pair of boots will last years on the ranch and I have never seen one come apart in any place. The sole will wear out before the boot breaks down. Leaking has never been a problem.
One note: The tack or scrub version of the boots has a sole that is not really made for great gripping on slick surfaces (at least that is my experience). They work fine in the barn, but if you are going to be doing a bunch of walking outdoors, over ice or slick mud, I recommend the "lug" soles.

I have worn the arctic version of the boot in very cold weather (-10 F) and your feet will stay warm with a good sock. I would not use them to stand for long periods of time in very cold weather, as there are better boots made for that kind of performance. The non-arctic versions get worn all year around unless it's very cold.

These boots are not cheap in price, but the last thing I want is wet, cold or sore feet or a boot that breaks down quickly. Muck Boots perform very well and will outlast cheaper brands by a long time.

Sorel Women's Caribou Snowboot Review

Sorel Women's Caribou Snowboot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These 10" high winter boots set the standard for basic cold weather boots in snowy conditions. They're probably the boot most commonly worn by locals in snowy Western mountain towns.

But be advised they do not have a lot of lateral stability in the sole of the boot. That is to say, the rubber bottoms tend to twist sideways making them, in my opinion, unsuitable for anything other around town use and possibly some work situations. The twisting motion makes traveling off beaten paths, especially climbing hills or side hilling, more difficult and tiring. My seven year old (Canadian made) Sorel Caribou models have somewhat thicker and probably more water resistant leather uppers, but the current (Chinese made) Sorels seem to have more advanced combination synthetic and wool felt liners and apparently much-needed additional underfoot insulation.

These boots have a cool look with the faux shearling collars but their relatively modest height means you will need to wear gaiters to keep out snow if you leave beaten paths. Felt lined pacs are typically the warmest boots for the bucks and the liners can be taken out to dry. I've washed my Sorel liners on gentle cycle using wool-friendly soap with excellent results and spraying some Armorall (used to perk up rubber and plastic in cars) on the rubber bottoms keeps them looking great as well.

Recommended to anyone who wants a warm, foolproof, traditional looking boot to wear in around-town or to cold weather outdoor events, keep in the car for emergencies and possibly wear to work or riding snow machines in really cold weather.

I love Keen shoes and have many pairs, so I was excited to try their winter boots.I was so disappointed when these arrived.I'm sure the footbed is still great, as on all Keen's, but I couldn't even get them on, the calf was *way* too small. They really need to look at their sizing model, there is no reason for that to happen.

Chaco Paradox Shoe - Women's Review

Chaco Paradox Shoe - Women's
Average Reviews:

I couldn't be happier with this shoe. It was recommended to me by a camping equipment specialist who works at LL Bean and I am so glad I took his advice! The best thing about Chacos in general is their arch support. If you pull the sole out you will see that the area under the arch is almost impossible to bend. This is what makes the support so strong. Try the same thing with a pair of teva's and you'll notice the difference immediately. What I like about this particular shoe (the paradox) is that it protects my feet (especially my toes that I stub a lot!) while still being a sandal. It is breathable and I can plunge through water with no problem. In the beginning I wore these with thin socks because as with any new shoe, I got little blisters on the back of my heels. But they went away soon enough and now they don't give me blisters at all even with bare feet. I wear them on long hikes and while camping and even to work! I love my paradox chacos and I would recommend them to my friends.

Product Description:
Its pretty obvious that the polyester webbing on the Chaco Womens Paradox Shoe gives your foot plenty of breathability and a quick-dry cover, but what isnt obvious is the benefit of the BioCentric footbed. Let us fill you in. Aggressive arch support, a sculpted heel cup, and heel risers control pronation, center the foot, and increase lateral stability, so your foot feels comfortable on your hikes and river runs. And at the bottom of it all lies Chacos grippy, non-marking outsole.

I am a heavy runner (5.10, 160+) and used to run in Sauconys because they came in wide sizes , had good cushioning, and look pretty good. After trying this shoe I switched. The 10.5 D in the New Balance WR 760 is wider and roomier than the Saucony ProGrid Hurricane size 11 D I tried at the same time.(They cost significantly less, too.)There was enough room for me to use my orthotics with the supplied insert, providing more cushioning.I was so impressed I ordered 2 more pairs in different colors from Amazon. They are good-looking, especially for New Balance, which I avoided in the past because they were usually kinda ugly, making the fact that I have huge feet even more noticeable. They feel like more expensive shoes.

I'm not rating this based on size- sizes of shoes are always different and you should be fitted in a store before you buy something as important as a running shoe online.

I've gone through pairs and pairs of running shoes, and it wasn't until I was fitted with these Mizunos that I realized I found the one! I'm on my 4th pair! I have flat feet, and the stability on these shoes is fantastic. They're also super light and extremely comfortable!

I'm a fan

Mizuno Women's Wave Creation 11 Running Shoe

A fortyish female, 110 lbs, 5'2", run 25 miles a week currently. I have very high arches. My feet are narrow at the heel and arch but my toes fan out. Because of this, I need a generous tow box. I do not pronate at all and buy neutral+ shoes.

I had been running in Asics, they were great shoes but did not fit my feet properly. I purchased the Mizuno shoes in order to correct toe problems I was having.

I have put 150 miles on my Mizuno so I thought I had enough info to give a report. I bought these shoes along with a pair of Saucony ProGrid Triumph 7 which I alternate runs in. I also have a report on the Saucony which I have put 175 miles on.

I wear a size 6 in non running shoes. I bought a size 7. I wear very thin socks while running, if I wore thicker socks, I would probably want to try a 7 ½. My toe problem has healed and has not recurred. I no longer tape my toes as I had previously.

These shoes are very light weight. When I first put them on and ran a bit outside the store I felt like I did not have shoes on they were so light. (I had never worn Mizuno before) They offer adequate cushioning but not as much as I have felt in Nike Air I have run in or the Asics I was replacing. I could REALLY tell there was less cushioning, this concerned me a bit but the light weight was outstanding.
The shoes are snug and supportive on my arches which I desire with my very high arches. The area where my heel is has a snug fit and does not slip while running. It seems like they fit and support perfectly along the heel and mid foot and yet open up for a fairly roomy toe box. The toe box is not as roomy as my old Nike Airs, but is roomier than the Asics I had previously.

I have had no hot spots or blisters from these shoes. At one point I started having an issue with my pinky toe going numb a few miles into a run. I have found that I was lacing the shoes too tightly. I wanted to make sure I had the shoe nice and snug so it would not slip and was tying the laces WAY too tight. I now just tie them normally, like I was going out and not running and this has stopped this problem. I also noticed that I had pressure on the outside of my pinky toe, after making sure to not tie so tight, this also has stopped. I attribute these two issues to my fault and not the shoe, however, I do think that supports the fact that the toe box is smaller than Nike Airs; I had always tied those REALLY tight with no problem. Tying them looser has not affected how the shoe supports or given me any problems with rubbing.

I do wish these shoes came in a wide width, just to see if I could have the same size in a wide and tie them down tighter like I like. A wide width might make them perfect for me!

While running these shoes give me a very noticeable springy feel on my feet. Not like shocks on Nike but just a bit of a bounce when landing on my heel and rocking up to push off my toes. This really gives more power in my push off as the momentum powers me forward. I really like the feel of the road they provide too. I feel I get a good feel of the road, yet they power my push off, but with less cushioning, unfortunately. I also think the curve that the toe box makes upward helps with this springy feel. The Saucony shoes toe does not curve up near as much.

During my long runs (7.5 -8.5 miles) I enjoy the light weight of these shoes but do wish I had a bit more cushioning. It has not affected my performance, it is just a preference. When I am doing an easy long run and not worried about time as much I run in the Saucony as they have much more cushioning for these longer runs. If I am trying to run at 10K pace, I go with the Mizuno shoes, the light weight and better feel of the road is worth a little less TLC on my feet to me.
The tread on the shoe is aggressive. I have to stop at times to pop out a rock that is stuck and will not come out without me getting it with my finger. This is great on slick roads. I do not run on trails but I could see this may be a problem picking up stuff if you run a lot of trail runs rather than road running like I do.
I have run a 10K and a 5K in these shoes and have not thought about my shoes in these races. They were comfortable, light, supportive and felt fast. I think a shoe is doing its job when I do not think about it; it is just there, especially during a race.

All in all I like this shoe. I am planning on buying another pair soon when they are retiring it (lower price!!) If you are a runner who likes cushioning, you may want to have these for some runs and another pair to alternate with that offers more cushioning. That has worked well for me. The shoes were well worth the higher price. I prefer to run in these verses the Saucony. In my twenties, it would not have mattered, but with older knees, some more cushioned runs in the Saucony shoes are a must. These are my favorite shoes I have ever run in. An option of a wide width would be a big plus. If you have very wide feet, I recommend you try these on before buying them. They feel pretty wide for a regular width, but you would want to be sure.
