They are durable and they never let in a single drop of water no matter what. They fit tight the first few times you wear them; but with a little bit of time they gradually become remarkably comfortable and that's excellent. They last forever, too!

These boots come with such a strong, water-proof type of leather that once you try them in the rain, slush or heavy snow you'll never go back to wearing boots from other manufacturers. You could wear these practically every single day throughout a bad winter; these boots insulate your feet and ankles from snow, slush, freezing rain or whatever. Moreover, these boots are great for walking around construction sites and other areas where there just isn't any smooth pavement.

Timberland boots will never let you down. Never! If you wish, you can do what a friend of mine does--spray just a bit of water repellant onto them before you wear them the first time. However, this is strictly optional. I don't use water repellant spray on these boots; they keep my feet warm and dry as is. Amazon states that they will not rust; but I don't know why leather would rust unless they are referring to the holes where you lace up your boots.

I highly recommend this boots by Timberland--guys, you won't regret this purchase.

(More customer reviews)It seems like you have a choice most of the time between lightweight boots that offer little in the way of support, or big clunky boots that take a year to break in, and are never very comfortable.

This boot is the best of both worlds.

Excellent grip and foot stability, without feeling like you're wearing a cast.The lateral support is the amazing thing about Salomon boots and trail runners.Even with the laces loose, your foot won't rock.

Out of the box, I took these on a long hike, then two consecutive backpack trips, and there was no break-in time.After walking 60+ miles, they still look new.The waterproofing is adequate, and even on hot days, my feet were dry as a bone in the evening, which says something about the breath-ability.I am also impressed with the large toe-box.My toes were never compressed together, and there was plenty of room to flex.

Another plus is that these boots are true to size (depending on the manufacturer, I can wear a 7 to an 8.These are a perfect 7.5).

I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a lightweight boot that doesn't want to compromise on support.

(More customer reviews)Until I opened the package, I didn't realize how much this really looks like a fancy Desert Boot - NOT what I would have picked had I been in a store.Also, since the material is soft (and not more stiff like the other Rockport products I own) the fit is much looser than I prefer.If the soles of my Ecco boots weren't shot, I would have sent these back.They will do until I find something more to my liking.These will work now that it is no longer shorts weather. However, I'll need something else by summer.

Dublin River Boots Review

(More customer reviews)I have had these boots for 6 months now and they still look as good as the day I bought them. The fit is good around the calves with a drawstring to tighten them if you need to.
They have been trudging through mud, snow and lots of rain! When I get home I just hose them down and they are as good as new. They are the most comfortable boots that I have owned and I can walk for miles without feeling like I have some great heavy boots on my feet. I would recommend these boots to anyone who is looking for a stylish alternative to the traditional welly.

Men's Merrell Sawtooth Review

(More customer reviews)I've worn these boots on week long backpacking trips through Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and Big Bend National Parks.They breath relatively well versus a full leather upper boot.The Vibram sole has excellent traction and is high quality.The boot is relatively water resistant, although it does not have a Gore-tex liner but water has never soaked through the boot.I really think Gore-tex liners are unnecessary unless you like to hike in very rainy areas.I've replaced the insoles with Spenco Backpackers for extra support under load.The only problem I've encountered is the rubber toe protection, which is part of the sole, has started to delaminate from the shoe. Great boot overall.

Length is true to size as other timberland shoes, but the toe-box is a bit narrow, so if you have wide feet might be a squeeze.

I highly recommend it.All the high-tech features actually seem to work to create a great shoe.

(More customer reviews)This is a very comfortable shoe. It flexes very good as you walk, and it weighs a considerable amount less than steel toes. There is room for your toes to move within the confines of the composite toe. The size seems to run larger than you would think. So I would recommend you order the correct size and not get any bigger to accomadate thick socks. So far so good although I do worry about the fact that the shoe is glued together and not sewn, so we'll see how it holds up.

(More customer reviews)The tongue of these boots are not well made or designed.My first pair had the tongue from the right boot rip from the stitches.The replacement pair had the left boot rip from the stitches.Neither pair made it past 10 wears prior to failure.

I have been wearing Timberland boots for years, but these are the first shoes I have ever owned that I have had to return.I don't know if it is the design of the stitching of the tongue, or whether its just a quality issue with the manufacturing, but I have given up on this style.

Clarks Men's Ash Gore-Tex&#174 Boot Review

(More customer reviews)I owned a black pair of these boots, and liked them so much that I bought an additional brown pair.
The first thing to know about the Clarks brand is that they are between half a size and a size too large. If you are a size 12 normally, you will likely be most comfortable in a size 11 boot.

The black boots in particular look fantastic. I have been complimented on how nice they look by people who assumed they were dress shoes. The boots take cream polish well, but it does not stay on for long because the leather is soft. The brown boots in particular need re-polishing if you want them to continue looking their best. But, of course, the boots are more than sufficient without polish. Thus, as a fashion item, the boots are great.
As normal boots, they perform as well as can be expected, but you will probably like them too much to risk damaging them. So, buy them because they look good yet are durable, rather than for rugged labor.

BlackHawk® Men's Desert Ops Boots Review

(More customer reviews)I've owned 2 pairs of these now, and I'll never own another Blackhawk boot. Although initially I thought these were good boots, time has proven otherwise. In less than 1 year of wear on each set, the inner lining comes loose in the heel area and makes them uncomfortable to wear. The soles are dangerously slippery on anything wet, like tile or cement. The soles de-laminate from the cushion part of the boot. The protective borders crack around the toe. One set started cracking by the laces about midway up the boot. One set had the stitching on the tab to help pull on the boot on tear loose. I called Blackhawk twice for service, no real help. Finally got hold of their Customer Service manager, he tried to make me feel like all the issues were my imagination, and had no value as feedback, even though I was pleasant and trying to give them good information. After 4 years as an Army Ranger, I know a thing or two about boots, so Blackhawk boots are poor quality, as is their service.

Timberland Boots, Waterproof Chocorua Trail Gore-Tex Hiker Review

(More customer reviews)I bought my first pair of these boots in October 2005 and just replaced them with another pair today (March 2007). The old ones had about 1700 miles on them and were getting a bit worn out. My job involves walking most of the day through people's yards and sometimes cross-country. These boots are light, comfortable right out of the box, and waterproof. In nearly 31 years on the job I've never had any boots as comfortable as these, and I've worn just about all the brands out there.

I'm also a backpacker and would recommend these for all but the toughest hikes.
