(More customer reviews)It seems like you have a choice most of the time between lightweight boots that offer little in the way of support, or big clunky boots that take a year to break in, and are never very comfortable.

This boot is the best of both worlds.

Excellent grip and foot stability, without feeling like you're wearing a cast.The lateral support is the amazing thing about Salomon boots and trail runners.Even with the laces loose, your foot won't rock.

Out of the box, I took these on a long hike, then two consecutive backpack trips, and there was no break-in time.After walking 60+ miles, they still look new.The waterproofing is adequate, and even on hot days, my feet were dry as a bone in the evening, which says something about the breath-ability.I am also impressed with the large toe-box.My toes were never compressed together, and there was plenty of room to flex.

Another plus is that these boots are true to size (depending on the manufacturer, I can wear a 7 to an 8.These are a perfect 7.5).

I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a lightweight boot that doesn't want to compromise on support.

(More customer reviews)Exceptional - possibly the lightest weight hiking shoe. My feet do not tire at all.At the same time, feels rock solid so you are not losing anything in terms of support and proteciton.

Length is true to size as other timberland shoes, but the toe-box is a bit narrow, so if you have wide feet might be a squeeze.

I highly recommend it.All the high-tech features actually seem to work to create a great shoe.

Timberland Boots, Waterproof Chocorua Trail Gore-Tex Hiker Review

(More customer reviews)I bought my first pair of these boots in October 2005 and just replaced them with another pair today (March 2007). The old ones had about 1700 miles on them and were getting a bit worn out. My job involves walking most of the day through people's yards and sometimes cross-country. These boots are light, comfortable right out of the box, and waterproof. In nearly 31 years on the job I've never had any boots as comfortable as these, and I've worn just about all the brands out there.

I'm also a backpacker and would recommend these for all but the toughest hikes.

They are very light, much lighter than most of the other models fully covered with leather, but at the same time they are higher and offer really good ankle support. Extremely comfortable - when I put them on for the first time, I wanted to go out for hiking right away. Gore Tex lining makes them waterproof and it works really well (I tested them in the rain and fog already).

(More customer reviews)I have had these for about 1 year they are very comfortable and offer alot of stability. I have tried alot of hiking boots and I believe I will buy the same ones again. The traction has worn down quite abit but I go hiking 3-6 miles 2-5 days a week on various kinds of terrain. Most tread seems to last me about 1 year at most. They kept my feet dry and warm and are not too hot in the summer. Again its all about comfort and to me these feel great. And they offer great toe protection from rocks which can really put a damper on an enjoyable outing.

Danner Men's 453 GTX Outdoor Boot Review

I took a 2 hour walk in these boots without breaking them in and the last thing I had to worry about was my feet hurting. These are so comfortable and being lightweight they are great for long treks or even for wearing everyday. They are waterproof and have a great traction sole and the styling won't make you look like a lumberjack.
I know boots are expensive these days - resist the temptation to buy something inferior and get the best fitting pair of boots you can afford. These should last a long enjoyable time.
