The Hardrock also works well on rugged dayhikes or fastpacking adventures. The shoe's multi-directional lugs give you added stability on those extra rough sections. Montrail updated the Hardrock this year with a Gryptonite sole for maximum traction in wet and dry conditions. Montrail shaved weight and fabric from the Women?s Hardrock '09 Trail Running Shoe without sacrificing one speck of durability of support. A combination of hydrophobic synthetic leather, mesh, and rubber makes the upper incredibly tough and very breathable as well. Montrail even added Gryptonite rubber outsoles for added traction on everything from rocks to logs to steep, loose scree.
