Pearl iZUMi Men's syncroSeek III WRX Running Shoe Review

I have had these for a few weeks and they keep getting better. The first two days I used them (the break in period) was necessary to soften the skeleton in the sole of the shoe. Since I pronate some it seemed the inner edge of my heel nearest the arch made constant contact with the plastic footbed where it rises slightly. Once this area seemed to break in and give a little more the hot spot went away. I have been reaping the benefits of this great runner ever since. The sole has very good wear characteristics, the relief cuts in the tread are not cracking or look to be a potential weak point - I would say the sole is; flexible & grippy, yet does not transmit the sharp edges of terrain to your foot. The material is very resistant to trail damage while being protective in the thick areas around your toes and heel cup. Also so far the waterproofing doest not allow water through even though it does not shed off - the material may look wet but you are comfy, dry, and well ventillated in spite of the waterproofing in the material. If this keeps up I may buy another pair!! UPDATE 10/08/09 - shoes no longer water resistant, they have not been washed or treated in a way this should occure so quickly but that my latest news.

These shoes are great for working out in cardio classes where support is needed in the footbed when doing lunge type exercises. For the longest time I've worn Saucony sneakers but only run occasionally and instead mainly do cardio classes and cardio machines. The result was that over time my arch pain (due to over-pronation) became worse and worse until it was nearly too painful to workout. I searched the internet for any information on the best sneakers for arch pain suffers. Every search seemed to keep coming up with running shoes... FINALLY I found some information that stated NEW BALANCE is designed for pronation control.
I'll admit it - I wasn't thrilled with the look of theses New Balance shoes or the thought of wearing this brand. I preferred something a little more colorful and funky. HOWEVER - these shoes ROCK! I workout 5-6 days a week and I love these shoes! They have solved my burning arch issue and have amazing stability in the footbed. I was impressed with the padding thickness of the insole (best I've seen) but I still use my own higher grade insole which fit perfectly in these shoes!

Aetrex Women's X801W Athletic Walking Shoe Review

I have mixed-last feet that are very wide in the front only. According to the company's Web site, the extra wide is a WW - WWW, so I decided to try both a wide, supposedly D/E, and extra wide.

For the extra wide to fit correctly with my orthodics, I needed to take out BOTH insoles and change the lacing to bypass the lowest hole. Taking out the "mosaic" inner sole is a pain - the little pieces along the edges come off as you try to get a grasp on it - you'd think they'd design something you could grab onto, at least initially. I don't think it would survive being taken in and out multiple times for adjustment.

I can feel cushioning from the mosaic innersole - but it makes the shoe too tight - and I'm not sure how much good the mosaic would do if you could get it right. Maybe this would work if you're at a specialist who has a machine that can translate how you walk onto the mosaic and if you don't need the extra width.

I am probably going to keep them because they have a fairly straight last, don't seem to have an excessive rollbar correction - and because I'm desperate for a pair of shoes I can wear. I don't think they're worth the price premium.

I have bought the wx1009 new balance shoe for 5 years, they discontinued it and replaced it with the wx1010 and increased the price. The shoe has no quality, and no support.I am very dissapointed with this product.I work out 5 days a week and need a good supportive cross trainer and always found it in the wx 1009.It will cost me 10 dollars to send this shoe back, I am very dissapointed in the replacement and in new balance.

These are very stylish and give you lots of support. I have pretty flat feet with no arch and these are very comfortable for me. In addition they are not bad to look at. I normally have to buy sneakers in non feminine colors and styles but these were more lady like.
