(More customer reviews)This is my third pair of Garmont hiking boots and I love them.I put a lot of trail miles on these boots in New England and the mountains of Idaho.They are the most comfortable fit out of the box I have ever experienced and the ergonomic design they put into them really makes a difference.For example, the way the tounge is structured keeps it in place--it has never shifted on me.The way the toebox is constructed is much better for my forefoot, my little toe has room as do all the other toes--and their ability to move keeps my feet warm and confortable.I have narrow heels as well and the boot does not slip in the heel as many other boots will.I have never experienced a hot spot or pressure point in these boots.They have also kept my feet dry and warm regardless of conditions (three season use).The Goretex really works in these boots.

I do put a better orthotic in them--they come with a very basic insert and I prefer one with more heel cushion and a stronger arch support.The uppers have proven to be very durable--I have simply walked the bottoms off of my first two pair.

I have recommended them to adults and boys involved in scouting and everyone that has a pair loves them.The only caution I give is that this model is a little light for serious backpacking (which should be obvious since they are sold as a hiker).I use them for hiking with a lumbar (fanny) pack and they are superlative.

Danner Men's Striker II GTX Uniform Boot Review

(More customer reviews)I love these boots because they are very comfortable. After 10 hours on the beat my feet still feel good. After several pairs of boots nothing beats Danner!!! If I had to pick smoething negative to say I would say the factory didn't put long enough shoes laces in them.

I have worn my other Merrell Siren MidLeather boots...every day since last May!To work, in the woods...everywhere.

These seemed to run a little small though.My other Merrell's are 9's and in these I bought a 10.

Garmont Men's Nagevi Vegan GTX Hiking Shoe Review

(More customer reviews)I'm giving these 2 stars for brilliant design, but poor execution. Garmont clearly put a lot of effort into making every little aspect of the shoe perfect for hiking, but even the best design means little if it is made poorly.

Surprise; a shoe manufacturer compromising on materials and quality control by moving production to a factory in China...

I have owned two pairs of these. The first pair I got had a big bubble under the insole which made walking for more than a few blocks quite uncomfortable. Little issues like that will always slip by once in a while in a factory, so I traded them in for another pair which was perfect. Until 2 months of not-so-heavy use, when various seams started splitting apart, the toe and sole started coming unglued, and waterproofing was lost. I couldn't walk across a dewy field without getting my feet wet, much less a wet hiking trail.

I liked the shoes so much that I got a second pair. This one has an uneven area (kind of a bump) that rubs up against my ankle, which literally rubbed a hole through my skin (ouch) after a 2 mile hike. There is just no quality control going on here.

The 21st century promised flying cars and jetpacks. Instead we got cheap Chinese manufactured goods. What a rip off!

Garmont Men's Eclipse III GTX Hiking Shoe Review

(More customer reviews)I will now be the proud owner of my 5th pair of these shoes.I do not do any hiking, but am a general contractor and rely on these guys to keep my feet protected.The gore tex comes in handy when and if it ever rains again in TX.I looked at the Vegan model of this shoe, and it does not look quite as burly as this one.It has stopped nails from coming thru to my foot, stopped numerous puddles, and breathes pretty well.I wear them ever day for 8-10 hours a day and I can get one pair to last me 6 months.They are currently priced here the same as REI and free shipping and no tax spends my $$ here.

Are they expensive?Heck yes.But worth it.
