(More customer reviews)I recently joined a local women's roller derby league, and our league administrator suggests for starters, we all buy the carrera skate.It's a great price, and you won't find the same quality in another skate for this price.You get a leather Riedell made boot, and sure-grip plates, so you know you're getting quality products.I recommend, if you didn't know already, that you buy a different set of wheels and bearings to change out as soon as you get them.The bearings aren't maintable, meaning you can't take em apart to clean them out like most others better quality bearings.Here's a slight warning though, I've been told it will take approx. 100 hours of skate time to truly break in these boots.Breaking in a leather boot isn't fun, and you will have blisters.If you have any form of shoe stretcher it seemed to help me a bit.
All in all I'm extremely happy with the purchase of the Carrera skates.Once they are no longer in good condition, and if I'm still really into derby, I might think about upgrading to a full leather Riedell boot.But for starting out or recreational usage (derby or otherwise) these are great.
