I worked at Philmont Scout Ranch (PSR) in New Mexico for the summer of 09. up till that summer i'd used sundowners, they last me about 2 years before i have to get another set. but this summer i was going to be backpacking almost non stop for weeks at a time for 3 months so i wanted something i'd could be sure would hold up. i asked around and the good people at my local out door store said that this model should hold up very well.
they didn't, within a week of wearing them while walking half a mile to and from school every day to break them in part of the rubber stuff on the side started coming apart. this is flat ground walking with maybe 20 pounds in a day pack.
i figured it was normal no big deal.
well I got to PSR and started some serious hiking and the first thing i knew my feet were killing me, i was getting blisters (i used liner socks and smartwool) and then, i devoloped an ingrown toenail, that i had to hike on for at least 20 miles in intense pain, 5 miles was down hill the whole way. no mater how tight i laced them up my feet would slide a bit and my toe would hit the end.
i had to have the ingrown toe nail cut out, and i bought a brand new pair of sundowners and didn't have any more problems with my feet.

summery:
they didn't fit well enough (and i sized them right)
they are built poorly (by the time i sent them back for a refund the soles had gaps between them and the leather)
the rubber toe guard was nice as it helped reduce scuffing
remember though, your feet are different than mine and you may very well fit them wellenough, but watch out for them falling apart, they only got 100 miles on the trail, if that much
