After three months of publicly maintained trail use, the sole on the left boot cracked and separated at the forefoot spring. I went straight to Spira in an effort to get a replacement set of boots, but my complaint was treated with unprofessional skepticism. This is the only pair of shoes I have ever returned. For the cost ($170.00) I feel cheated.

(More customer reviews)These shoes are truly great. They effectively reduce impact forces and are easy on the knees. Walking is not only more pleasant, but also requires less effort. The springs do indeed absorb and release energy in a way that reduces the overall effort of walking or running. My wife walked in mine for 50 yds and immediately ordered a pair for herself. The shoes are so easy on my knees that I've taken up jogging again at the age of 56. My legs feel 10-20 years younger walking in these shoes. Don't take my word for it. This is definitely worth a $130 roll of the dice on your part.

You may want to order them a half size larger than normal as others have mentioned.Mine were a tad tight.

(More customer reviews)Sadly, this is a terrible product! Worse still, until i actually wore them (obviously) i couldn't tell just how awful they are. Catch 22: once you've worn them you can't return them. So obviously, i'm now stuck w/ a badly designed shoe that distorts the way my foot hits the ground---which caused pulled muscles in my foot & ankle that took a week to heal.

Naturally, until the shoe was worn around for a bit, this was impossible to assess. But because i've bought them here thru an Amazon seller, i cannot return them, because they're not "in the box w/out having been worn". Bummer, & last time i will purchase from either this seller, or Amazon, any item other than basics (books, cds, etc) which i will not have any reason to return. What a waste of money!

(I wouldn't even give these shoes & their return policy 1 star, but the 1 star designation comes w/ the review & can't be reduced to the "0" this situation deserves.)

(More customer reviews)Don't let the description of the internal springs fool you.This is no gimmick.I thought they were at first until I was convinced to try on a pair in a she store.I was converted immediately.These shoes do, indeed, put a spring in your step.They don't actually bounce, but you can definitely feel them absorbing and softening the impact of each step.The feeling was even more pronounced when on hard surfaces like concrete sidewalks. It even softens the impact of walking down stairs.My wife, who has constant foot problems, fell in love with them immediately.They are well constructed and durable.We've worn them for 6 months now with no complaints.
Just one con; since they are leather they can tend to be a little warm, but this is not enough to deduct a star for.
I am definitely considering their Del Rio sandals.
