Overall this is a fantastic ski pack.
This pack contains several innovative features that will make any backcountry enthusiast happy.
-Dedicated A-Frame Ski straps (it's about time Da-Kine)
-Pull out, adjustable wire loop for cross mounting your skis(very sleek), I also use the top portion of
this mounting system to hold my helmet when hiking or walking around.
-Snowboard mount behind back pad
-Exterior ice axe holder with one handed quick draw removal (also holds my snow saw)
-Interior compartment with holders for probe, shovel blade and shovel handle. This compartment also has a
drain vent at the bottom to avoid getting your extra layers wet.
-Soft lined goggle pouch
-Two small pockets on exterior
-One small pocket on waist strap for easy access.
-Insulated shoulder strap for reservoir tube
-Rear access for large compartment
-Plenty of room for anything you might need (what's in mine?: Climbing skins, Avalung, spare polypro, GPS,
First aid, knife, maps, camera, two way radio, etc.)

The Down Side
The only problem that I really have with this pack is related to the reservoir system.First of all it does not come with a reservoir as most Dakine bags used to.Second there is not really a dedicated reservoir pouch in the main compartment so it can be a little tricky to get the reservoir exactly where you want it, although there is a loop at the top to secure it.Lastly, the insulated sleeve on the shoulder strap is not large enough to fit a bite valve with a locking L joint, a bit specific but if you use them you know what I mean.
It would also be nice if there were some webbing attachments on the exterior for attaching gear on longer trips, but those are easy enough to add yourself.

The bottom line
If you are looking for a good sized (1600 cu.in.) backcountry pack then you've found it.With its sturdy construction, innovative features, confortable fit and super-adjustability this pack was the first one I have ever purchased that I didn't have to modify in order to accommodate all of my gear.If you are just looking for a pack to take with you on resort trips then you may not need so much size.In that case I would suggest the Dakin Apex series.
