(More customer reviews)Relatively comfortable for a climbing shoe, these are just terrific. On my foot the soles have a good seat against my foot, no slipping at all on my feet or on the wall. Sizing on climbing shoes are wierd, so its good to try some one before you buy, as climbing shoe size are significantly smaller than regular shoe size.

Mad Rock Men's Demon Downturned Velcro Shoe Review

(More customer reviews)These have a similar fit to the Con-Flict. Severely downturned shape for vertical to overhanging routes.The upper is synthetic with a cool hemp lining instead of the unlined leather on the Con-Flict. Others have reported the lining greatly reduces odor that develops in other synthetic shoes. The upper material is thin and stretchy and I found it molded to my foot quite well. I'm a little concerned, that the thin material might not last very long, but it gave the shoe a light and glove-like fit.The straps too are flimsy so any full foot hooks will probably destroy them.Toe hooks though should be great with the front toe rubber.

That being said the shape is really tight and severely downturned. Street shoe size was very tight and half a size down was about as tight as I could stand. Again like the Con-Flict these fit differently than other climbing shoes I've tried. In street shoe size, my toes weren't curled together at all but instead bent downward with the shape of the shoe. The heel is more relaxed than the Con-Flict which fit me better. But again, with radically downturned shoes like this, you really need to try them to see if they work with your individual feet so I don't recommend buying them online unless you've tried this or the ConFlict before.

At a price that's a fraction of other ultra high performance shoes, I give these 4.5 stars.

What sets it apart from all my other climbing shoes is the slight upward bulge in the last between the toes & ball of your foot. It gives you something to lock your toes on & really adds power & stability to your footwork.

Sizing is fine, as is comfort. Havent had em long enough to test durability yet. Looking forward to it. These are my number one climbing shoe now. Thanks LaSportiva!

FiveTen Men's Gambit Climbing Shoe Review

(More customer reviews)I had rented leather beginner shoes for a couple of clinics and wanted my own pair for a 2-day foundations class. I chose Gambits, even though they're not as comfortable as the 'rounder' beginner shoes, because I wanted something that I could grow into as my climbing progressed.

I wore them around the house a couple of hours at a time for two weeks to grow a few extra layers of skin, as the seam of the top mesh and rand fall across the top of my toes and felt like it was digging into my flesh. I was initially worried I bought the wrong size style for me, but when it came time to get on the rock I knew I made the right choice.

The toe box felt much more comfortable latching into micro edges or smearing dimples than the rentals & I could feel the rock under my feet.

Come the 2nd day of class, the top seam faded away & I was smearing and edging with the best of them. I encountered a few "opportunities" to latch a hold with just my big toe, which is a bit painful for my newbie feet, but a very cool option to have when climbing an otherwise featureless face route.

If you're new to climbing & want absolute comfort from day one then pick a different shoe, but if you're willing to take the time and make the effort then go for a shoe that you'll outwear before you outgrow.
